Bloodstock Consultancy
In addition to running our own syndicates, the team at Irish Racing Shares can also provide a comprehensive bloodstock consultancy service for individuals and groups who wish to own their own racehorse. Whether you are new to the racing game or have been steeped in it for years, the owning and managing of racehorses can prove a minefield and the pitfalls are invariably costly.
Irish Racing Shares aims to provide a management service which allows the client to concentrate on the fun part – going to see their horse run. We can be involved as little or as much as you want. Tapping into the encyclopedic knowledge of the Stack family, here are the services we can provide.
Yearling Purchase
We like to think that our yearling-buying record is second to none. Fozzy Stack is renowned in the racing industry for having an uncanny gift in the selection of raw material which months later beomes a successful racehorse. For Irish Racing Shares he has purchased 'Myboycharlie' (54,000 guineas and sold to Coolmore after only two races) and 'Hammers Boy' (25,000 guineas and later sold to Hong Kong). For other owners at his family's training establishment he has bought the likes of 'Drayton' (15,000 guineas – a dual Listed winner and Group 2 placed).
And this expertise is not confined to the Flat. Fozzy paid just 11,000 guineas for a yearling subsequently named 'Perce Rock' who has gone on to become one of the most promising National Hunt horses in Ireland. Carrying the colours of the legendary J.P. McManus, 'Perce Rock' finished second in the Group 1 Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.
Racehorse Management
Using tried and tested patterns successfully employed in its own syndicates, Irish Racing Shares can provide an overall racehorse management package. That would include helping to plot a horse's career with suggestions on race entries and possible jockey bookings, liaising between owner and trainer and providing regular training updates.
In our experience, one great failing of trainers is a lack of communication with their owners. At Irish Racing Shares we will never let that happen. Wherever you are in the world, we can keep you up to speed via phone, text or email. And using our intimate knowledge of the form book, we will not shy away from advising when you can back your own horse to win.
Matings
New stallions are coming into service all the time and Irish Racing Shares prides itself on keeping an ear to the ground by using our contacts in the business to assess how its foals on the ground are shaping. Before a stallion has even had runners, we will have formed an opinion about its prospects of success.
This can be of immense value in identifying a value-for-money stallion before the market has caught up. Choosing the right stallion for your mare is not the job for the rank amateur. The Stack family, Tommy and his wife Liz, have been breeding horses to race at the highest level for years. For example 'Tarascon', their 1000 Guineas winner, was a homebred.
