ORPEN WINGER. BAY COLT by ORPEN X TAHDID (SOLD)

This is a colt by Orpen who is consistently one of the best stallions in Europe, year after year. Top-class offspring by him include French 1000 Guineas winner Torrestrella, Group 3 winners Gracefully and Killybegs while in 2007 he sired South African Group 1 winner War Artist plus UK Listed winner Lady Grace. He is a proven stallion who is closely related to Champion sire Danehill.  

This colt’s dam Tahdid was a good filly herself, winning three races and being placed in a Listed race between distances of seven to eight furlongs. She has already produced three winners from three runners so far, a 100% record. She is by the Champion racehorse Mtoto who sired Derby winner Shaamit and who is also an excellent broodmare sire with several Group winners produced by his daughters including the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner Summoner.

Tahdid herself comes from a prominent family that has produced a number of quality racehorses. She is a half-sister to the Listed Stakes winner Estimraar plus the Group 1-placed Asakir who was second in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud in France.
The grandam Yaqut is a half-sister to several top-class horses in the USA including dual Grade 3 winner Christmas Gift, Grade 1-placed Bonus Money and Grade 1-placed Bright Candles. The latter filly is the dam of Grand Slam, one of the best two-year-olds of his generation in the USA and winner of the Champagne and Futurity Stakes, both prestigious Grade 1 two-year-old races. He is now a leading stallion in the USA.
This pedigree keeps throwing up winners including plenty above average ones and this colt could potentially be another.
